What is a Subluxation and Why Remove It?

The Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACC), a group
consisting of all chiropractic college presidents in North America, defines Chiropractic as "a health care discipline which emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery."

They define the Subluxation as:

"A complex... of pathological... [joint] changes that compromise neural integrity and.. Influence organ system function and general health."

Why is Subluxation a serious problem?

The Subluxation causes in the spine and joints - immediately or over time:

• Great pain
  
• Disc degeneration
  
• Arthritis

Subluxation will also cause:

• Back spasms
• Muscle weakness
• Headaches
• Arm and leg problems
  

The Subluxation shuts down the messages from the brain traveling along nerve pathways.
These messages are:

• Essential
  
• Vital
  
• Life saving

These messages from the brain flow to and from all the structures and tissues in the body including:

• Heart
  
• Lungs
  
• Digestion
  
• Glands
  
• Muscles and Skin

The insidious and scary aspect of the Subluxation complex is that quite often the aspect of the nervous system that is effected is the autonomic nervous system.

These nerves are neither pain receptors nor motor nerves.

Pain receptors allow us to feel sensation.

• Touching a hot flame
  
• Headache
  
• The ability to feel the alignment in our back.

Motor nerves allow us to move.

• To walk
• Get up out of a chair
  
• Lift our arms.

These are the autonomic nerves which send messages to and from the brain regulating all the vital organs and glands in the body.

What does this mean then?

It means that we can have debilitating effects of a Subluxation to the Central Nervous System and to the Autonomic Nervous System without knowing it.
